Giuseppe Michele Stratico (Zadar, 31 July 1728 – Sanguinetto, 31 January 1783), Tartini’s student in violin and composition, is a significant figure in the history of music theory. He started to develop his approach to music theory first within Tartini’s school, under the influence of his teacher and that of Francescantonio Vallotti, another important figure of the 18th-century Paduan musical milieu. Stratico wrote three theoretical treatises, all preserved as manuscripts in Biblioteca Marciana in Venice: Trattato di musica, Nuovo sistema musicale, and Lo spirito Tartiniano.

The musicologist Lucija Konfic presents transcriptions of Stratico’s manuscripts, a study and critical analysis of Stratico’s treatises in relation to their content, and an overview of Stratico’s interests and orientations in the field of music theory. She identifies the subjects which were of particular interest to him, the way in which he approached specific topics, and how deeply he developed them. Furthermore, on the basis of the analysis of Stratico’s texts and current scholarship on the subject, she identifies some potential relations to Stratico’s predecessors and contemporaries, focusing in particular on the possible sources of his writings, and the influences to which he was exposed.

Stratico formed his theoretical system somewhat outside of the framework of the theoretical authorities of his time. His efforts certainly were not isolated and unique as such, but represent, with some original contributions, one of many approaches to music theory and practice of the period. Thus, Stratico’s musical system can be considered an interesting and valuable contribution to theoretical discussions of his time.

Giuseppe Michele Stratico (Zadar, 31. srpnja 1728. – Sanguinetto, 31. siječnja 1783.), Tartinijev učenik violine i kompozicije, važna je figura u povijesti glazbene teorije. Svoj pristup glazbenoj teoriji počeo je razvijati najprije unutar Tartinijeve škole, pod utjecajem svog učitelja i Francescantonija Vallottija, još jedne važne osobe padovanske glazbene sredine 18. stoljeća.
